HISTORY
In the early 1980’s a small cabinet shop was founded in Bozeman, Montana, by Richard Garwood. Mountain High Woodworks, then and now, specializes in premium-grade all custom cabinetry and custom-built doors.
Our customers’ need for a custom, yet cost-effective, door was always a challenge to meet in a small local shop. One of our clients brought Southwest Door Company of Arizona to our attention, and a relationship was born. Mark Butler of Southwest Door Company created the handcrafted look that has become so much of a part of our western design in Montana.
A separate company, Southwest Door Montana, was founded by Garwood in 1992. Southwest Door Montana specialized in all of the Southwest Door Company products, which included doors, windows and hand forged hardware. The response in the Bozeman area was overwhelming as very few had been exposed to the crafted styles available from Southwest Door Company (now Architectural Traditions) and the business grew rapidly.
Custom windows and doors became our specialty. Due to increased demands, complimentary window and door manufacturers including Kolbe and Loewen, along with bronze hardware from Rocky Mountain Hardware were added to our offerings. Our company name also evolved to represent our broader scope: Montana Sash and Door now gives our clients the utmost flexibility in designing their dream project.
As regional demand for our products and services continued to increase, two other locations were opened under a partnership with long-time friend Scott Dehlendorf as Montana Sash and Door - Flathead, Inc. in Kalispell 2002 and Idaho Sash & Door, LLC in Coeur D’Alene 2006.
